What if I don't know if my electric service is overhead or underground?

It's not as easy as it looks. Some overhead lines to your dwelling may be cable TV or telephone lines. To see if your electric service is overhead, locate the electric meter on your dwelling. If there is a conduit (pipe) rising from the meter to a connection somewhere on your roof, the service is overhead. If the conduit (pipe) rises from the ground to the meter, the service is already underground.

Are there any other expenses to converting to underground?

Yes. If you want to convert your entire electric service line to underground, you'll need to contact a licensed electrician to modify your onsite electric facilities to receive underground service. If you indicated a desire to convert to underground service, our designers will contact you to answer questions and guide you through the process. It could be several months before that contact is made.

When will the existing overhead lines be removed?

The lines will not be removed until the undergrounding is complete and energized.
