When it comes to your business, people are probably one of your biggest investments and assets. Our region offers nearly two dozen institutions of higher learning that boast high academic achievement and a highly qualified workforce.
University of Wisconsin system
The University of Wisconsin system is one of the largest public higher education systems in the country, enrolling more than 182,000 students each year and employing more than 32,000 faculty and staff statewide.
For more than a century, the University of Wisconsin system has been guided by the Wisconsin Idea — a philosophy which holds that research conducted at the University of Wisconsin system should be applied to solve problems and improve health, quality of life, the environment and agriculture for all citizens of the state.
Today, all 13 universities, 13 colleges and UW-Extensions in 72 counties, fulfill the promise of the Wisconsin Idea.
Wisconsin's Technical College system
The Wisconsin Technical College system (WTCS) stimulates local economic development by providing the state with hands-on education that brings people and jobs together at incredibly high placement rates.
The 16 colleges in the WTCS offer more than 300 career programs, including two-year associate degrees, one- and two- year technical diplomas, short-term technical certificates and customized training and technical assistance directly to business and industry.
Each year, 380,000 individuals, with a wide range of ages, take advantage of the educational opportunities available in the WTCS. Additionally, over 90% of WTCS college graduates are employed within six months of graduation, and 94.6% of the graduates stay in Wisconsin.
