Wisconsin is known for its excellence in a wide range of industries. However, there are several target industries that can benefit most from our regional advantages.
- Data centers
Competitively priced electricity, low natural disaster risks, and a naturally cool climate help make Northeast and Central Wisconsin a natural when it comes to housing collocated or enterprise data centers.
- Food processing
As an example, dairy manufacturing is one of the largest sectors in the state, with output of $2.1 billion, industry output growth of 30% from 2008 to 2011, and a location quotient of 6.0. The Northeastern and Central region contributes significantly to value-added activities in milk production and cheese making.
- Forest and paper products
Pulp, paper, and paperboard mills are one of Wisconsin's largest historical industries, with output of $2.6 billion and output growth of more than 15% from 2008 to 2011. Converted paper product manufacturing adds another $2.6 billion in output. The heart of this industry has always been in Northeast and Central Wisconsin, where some of the most advanced technologies in this industry are in use today.
