Hodag Solar Park is a 7.5-megawatt (MW) solar energy facility located in northern Wisconsin. WPS opened the facility in January 2022 as the first large-scale solar park in the state’s Northwoods region.
Project details
Hodag Solar Park features 21,000 panels spread across 50 acres near the city of Rhinelander. It is capable of producing enough solar energy to power more than 2,000 homes.
The facility delivers affordable, reliable and clean energy to WPS customers through innovative panels that capture solar energy on both sides. The panels are mounted to a tracking system that rotates to follow the path of the sun from sunrise to sunset each day. A series of electric cables and equipment convert the facility’s solar energy to electricity used by homes and businesses throughout the year.
Hodag Solar Park is an important part of the commitment of WPS and its parent company, WEC Energy Group, to build a bright, sustainable future.WPS also owns and operates several other solar, wind and hydroelectric facilities in Wisconsin and Iowa.
